Delivering on The Common Agenda

Agenda 2030 and The Youth

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership.

HIRED Consult is a UN SDG Supporter and engages global youth in championing the Agenda 2030 for the Future We Want across board.

act now!

“…We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind”.

youth power

Young people play a key role in tackling climate change. Yearning for a world where opportunities are equally distributed, young people are taking action for peaceful, just and inclusive societies. Youth organizations bring the needs of the most vulnerable to the attention of decision-makers and run campaigns and projects.

climate action

"...Young people’s unprecedented mobilization around the world shows the massive power they possess to hold decision-makers accountable. Their message is clear: the older generation has failed, and it is the young who will pay in full — with their very futures." HIRED Consult engages with youth led and youth focused organizations through advocacies, projects, events and collaborations to champion Climate Actions.

just transition

By contrast, climate action and the shift to a green economy have the potential to create more and better quality jobs. Both adaptation to climate change and measures to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions offer opportunities to create new jobs, while securing or transforming existing ones. In fact, 100 million jobs may be created by transitioning to sustainable energy sources and a circular economy scenario.

green jobs

The International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) through GO4SDGs, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Generation Unlimited are working together with young people, governments, social partners, employers’ and workers’ organizations, education entities, and the private sector to design and implement the Green Jobs for Youth Pact. The Pact supports a just transition and boosts decent jobs for youth in a sustainable economy.

multilateralism

Jayathma Wickramanayake, the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, declared: “The lack of young people in decision-making is an ongoing problem.” While young people will inherit all the repercussions of decisions made today, only about 3 per cent of the world’s Parliamentarians are currently under the age of 30, and many structural, legal and financial barriers.
HIRED Consult works to provide a level playing field with equal opportunities for all youth

security

It’s hard to think of a more critical economic sector than agriculture. It is an industry that directly affects the lives of everyone worldwide. Food Security, Cyber Security and Drug Security forms a critical component that can either be used to socio-economic development or weaponized for ulterior motives. Finding a balance for all is key for a just future of global balance

From Commitment to Reality

The interlinkages and integrated nature of the Sustainable Development Goals are of crucial importance in ensuring that the purpose of the Common Agenda is realized. If we realize our ambitions across the full extent of the Agenda, the lives of all will be profoundly improved and our world will be transformed for the better.
